Short History
Who are we? -- The sustainable energy ventures (SEV) club at the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord is an award winning, extracurricular, student run project. The club offers unique opportunities for students, such as a chance to put engineering, marketing, business and other concepts taught at NHTI into action.
Club History -- Formed in 1988, the club was created for students with an interest in investigating; designing, and building alternate-energy vehicles that were environmentally friendly. The student members did just that for the first annual American Tour de Sol solar and electric car rally in 1989: they built Suntech, a streamlined one-person vehicle with a large solar array to enter the competition against a number of major engineering universities. Surprisingly, Suntech finished the first Tour in second place, between entries from MIT and Dartmouth College.
